Valleys Radio automates programmes for a total of four hours a day on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. With an additional two hours on Wednesday afternoon for presenter training.

Valleys Radio produces 12 hours a day from 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 16 hours on Saturday from 6am to 10pm of local programmes from our Studio's in Ebbw Vale. From 6pm to 6am Monday to Friday we share programmes from the UTV network. On Saturdays we take programmes from the UTV network from midnight to 6am and 10 pm to midnight. On Sunday we produce 7 hours of programmes from our Ebbw Vale studio, sharing programmes from the UTV Network from midnight to 8am and from midday to 4pm and from 10pm to Midnight. From 4pm to 7pm Sunday we take the Hit 40 UK chart show via satellite from London. Our Welsh language programme from 7pm to 10pm on Sunday is automated.

 
 

We actively support the Hospice of the Valleys Cancer charity, and have teamed up with them for the last three year for operation Christmas providing safe toys for needy children across the Valleys. For Christmas 2007 we have teamed up with Ty Hafan the Childrens Hopsice of Wales who will be distributing this years donated toys.

8am/ 1pm and 5 pm are slightly longer we tend to use a package which takes us slightly over the 3 minutes

7pm 6am Sky Radio News UK and international news

Headlines on Valleys Radio are at 6.30am / 7.30 am / 8.30 am / 4.30 pm/ 5.30pm / 6.30pm

Sport bulletins are at 6.30am / 7.30 am / 8.30 am / 1.00pm / 4.30 pm/ 5.30pm / 6.30pm

Age 33 born in Haverfordwest raised in Swansea mum of one, studied at the University of Wales College of Cardiff

Worked within radio for 12 years , started career at Swansea Sound, did degree and post grad studies then started freelancing for BBC Wales Red Dragon FM and The Wave. First full time job was at the Wave and Swansea Sound, moved on to become senior journalist at Red Dragon FM, was Late Editor at Real Radio, then returned to Swansea as News Editor for the Wave , Swansea Sound and Valleys Radio in 2001.

Caroline Allen
Broadcast Journalist and News Presenter
B.A Hons English at Manchester Metropolitan University, MA in Broadcast Journalism NCTJ University College Falmouth.

Caroline, originally from Cardiff, joined the team in October 2006, where she previously freelanced for Real Radio Wales and Radio Sovereign. Aswell as reporting for Key 103/ Magic 1152 in Manchester.

Lexy Blackwell
Lexy joined the team in January 2007. She has a Biology degree from Bristol University and a Masters degree in Broadcast Journalism from University College Falmouth.

Originally from Bristol - Lexy has worked at Arrow fm, Bath fm, Ivel fm, and Xfm. As well as reporting for Channel five news and HTV soccer night.

Since joining the Valleys she's covered stories including Wales' Rugby world cup bid, followed South Wales murder trials and interviewed top ministers like Peter Hain and Rhodri Morgan.
